The project is located in the municipality of Svalbarðsstrandarhreppur, a relatively quiet suburban/rural area south of Akureyri in the Eyjafjörður region. It features a complex of single-storey terraced houses comprising six units with monolithic foundations, prefabricated timber-frame panels, and mono-pitched roofs with a 4% slope.
Main Part Design OÜ was responsible for:
Comprehensive structural calculations, evaluating overall 3D building stiffness, Iceland snow/wind loads.
Production drawings of load-bearing structure connection details.
Structural Overview
Prefabricated timber-frame exterior and interior wall panels manufactured off-site.
Diaphragm action across roof planes transferring lateral wind loads to shear walls.
Wall anchorage using Rothoblaas hold-downs and heavy-duty chemical anchors tied directly to the concrete foundation.
