This is a construction project for a 3-story residential apartment building. It features a modular design with three linked sections and employs wood-frame construction with mineral wool insulation. Roof is made of wood panels as well, featuring bracings for stiffness and incline surfaces for draining water. The exterior is finished with diagonal/vertical timber cladding in light grey, PVC windows, and a flat roof with solar panel provisions.Balconies between buildings will host a tree inside the opening. Their structures elements also were premade on the factory and combined on site.
Main Part Design OĆ was responsible for:
Development of the detailed structural BIM model
Comprehensive structural calculations, evaluating overall 3D building stiffness under wind and snow loads.
Complete Prefab manufacturing package: assembly drawings, single-part shop drawings, and element production specifications.
Material bills of quantities for whole complex split according to erection schedule.
Structural Overview
Prefabricated timber-frame exterior and interior wall panels manufactured off-site complete with external windows and doors.
Diaphragm panels across roof and ceiling planes transferring lateral wind and seismic loads to shear walls.
Wall anchorage using Rothoblaas hold-downs and heavy-duty chemical anchors tied directly to the concrete ring beams and foundation.
š Modeling, Calculation & Coordination Tools
Modeling: Performed in Tekla Structures, MPD_Edit, MPD_Timber
Team created special workflows in Tekla Structures to generate drawings only for custom parts and filter out simple beams and sheets automatically. This allowed fabricators to focus on drawings that really mattered.
Calculations: Made using Excel spreadsheets, Dlubal RFEM, and Finnwood
